I'll be the first to admit, I often trim my wicks by just pinching the black carbon buildup between my fingers, plucking it off and throwing it away before relighting a candle. I don't care how you trim your wick so long as your trim your wick. And this goes for any candle, not just Big White Yetis. Keeping your wick trimmed ensures product quality and longevity.

But if you are a serious candle aficionado or even a casual one who likes nice accoutrements, a well-made wick trimmer needs to be part of your candle experience.

Wickman is the premier manufacturer of wick trimmers. This specific wick trimmer fits our 8oz glass jars and our 6oz tins and is also excellent for deeper mason jar style candles. It’s 7" long with adebris catching tray.

How to use a wick trimmer:
1. Trim your wick before each lighting. Never attempt to trim a burning candle
2. Place the wick trimmer's long handle inside of the jar or tin and bring the scissor blades around the wick. Keeping the blades parallel to the wax, trim the wick to about 1/4”.
3. Discard the excess wick into the trash. Never leave anything in the candle; matches, wick debris, etc.

*Please note the hang tag we use is different than the one pictured. Exact same wick trimmer, just a smaller hang tag. Recycle it out once you get your wick trimmer :)

CANDLE CARE

Let's talk about basic candle care.

1. Trim your wick - Before every lighting, trim the wick of your candle to about 1/4'' for a clean beautiful burn. You can use a fancy wick trimmer, a pair of scissors, or even just your fingers (which is what we do 99% of the time).

2. Let it burn- Allow the wax of your candle to melt to the edge of the container every time to ensure a complete and even burn. This prevents tunneling.

3. Never let a burning candle out of your sight. And don't burn it for more then 4 hours at a time.

4. Let it go- when only 1/4'' of wax remains in the jar, blow it out and clean it out with hot soapy water. Recycle it or repurpose the jar or tin.
